Who is Ed Blight?

Ed Blight is the Chief Financial Officer of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), the independent authority for the global Over-The-Counter (OTC) precious metals market. While many financial executives build their careers exclusively in banking, Blight took an operational route. He spent nearly 30 years in the British Army managing complex global logistics before bringing his expertise to corporations like Amazon and G4S. On Y’all Street, we recognize Blight as an operational tactician who successfully integrated military discipline and Lean Six Sigma methodology to modernize the legacy infrastructure of global bullion vaulting.

From Desert Storm to Amazon

Blight’s foundation is built on logistics under operational pressure. Growing up in the naval town of Plymouth, England, he bypassed university to join the British Army at age 16 as a telecommunications mechanic. He quickly ascended the ranks, earning a commission at Sandhurst. By his late twenties, he was serving as an operations captain during the Gulf War, managing fuel logistics for an armored advance during Operation Desert Storm. He later served as a Squadron Commander during stabilization efforts in Bosnia and Kosovo, ultimately reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and working to optimize the defense supply chain alongside defense contractor Raytheon.

Upon retiring from the military in 2010, Blight transitioned into corporate supply chain optimization. He joined Amazon UK to lead their shoes and apparel division, utilizing Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen events to reduce bottlenecks during peak holiday seasons. This consistent focus on removing variability from supply chains became his professional signature.

Disrupting the Vaults & Guiding the LBMA

Blight’s pivot into finance came when he joined G4S to build a massive new precious metals vault in partnership with Deutsche Bank. Facing a London vaulting culture that historically guarded its manual methods as sacred secrets, Blight took an unconventional approach—he treated gold like any other warehouse commodity. He implemented mobile racking and automated warehouse management systems (WMS), improving the speed and efficiency of the London OTC clearing process.

Current Ventures & Philosophy:
